The way I see it, micro-apps are the future of the web application. These tiny apps only do one thing in particular - but they do it well. As opposed to more robust applications, micro-apps focus on a single task and target that problem with a specialized solution.

Most people recognize WordPress as a world class blogging platform. What most people don’t realize is that WordPress can be used to quickly and easily set up a website. In other words, the blogging platform doubles as a simple website CMS.

Rarely do I blog about individual products or services. I am not often compelled or inspired by what I see. In the case of Clicky however, the company seems to be doing everything right - from a business perspective and a product strategy.

Every web company will update its website from time to time. These iterations range in scale and scope, and often only require small tweaks. Other times, an entire revamp is in store. Evolution is necessary but not at the expense of the experience.

The term “feature creep” is often used to describe a product or service overridden with features to a point where the overall offering becomes less functional. Rather than focus on a few outstanding features, a myriad of substandard features are crammed into the product, diminishing the overall value and utility. I think the same can be said for blogs — and the abuse use of widgets.
